Air pollution occurs when harmful or excessive quantities of substances including gases, particles, and biological molecules are introduced into Earth's atmosphere. It may cause diseases, allergies and even death to humans; it may also cause harm to other living organisms such as animals and food crops and may damage the natural or built environment. Both human activity and natural processes can generate air pollution.

The pollutants that will be measured and monitored are 8 and that has a key role in determining the quality of the air we breathe are PM2.5, PM10 CO, CO2, SO2, NO2, O3, and VOC. Each of them is an indicator of emissions caused by pollutants.

This monitoring is aimed at creating a monitoring network for air quality including pollutant selection, monitoring site selection, frequency, sampling time, sampling technique, and tools. At the end of the project, with information to be collected along with graphs, Civil Society Organizations will promote better policies and environmental awareness of air quality pollutants.
